Last time I flew AOM (LAX-Papeete and return), it was before Swissair's involvement. The seating and service was like a charter (3-4-3 on a DC-10 in coach, 2-4-2 in business).

I do hear Swissair improved things (as they did, to a degree with Sabena).

I'm not sure if my flight was typical -- I do know some European airlines (like Finnair) have the notion of a "leasure" flight, with more seats and reduced service as opposed to "business" flights.
