I'm looking at paying my local property taxes with my Amex HHonors card this year. The "third party provider" charges a fee and if I get 3X points per dollar I'd consider it. BTW, I'm not fooling myself by thinking it's a 'deal', just a way to get a nice chunk of points.

My question is: has anyone done this and do you get the 3X points. I've read the fine print on the Amex site and nothing jumps out and says it's only 1:1 for such transactions or that such transactions are not eligible.
