First post.

Soon flying transatlantic (eastbound redeye) on VS.

Back of the plane is wide open so I'm confident I'll be able to maneuver to get an economy seat with two empty seats next to it (maybe even three adjacent empties for an entire middle row), and thus a de facto "bed" (since the armrests can be raised).

Alternatively, I've found on this route I can buy PE upgrades for $300 at the gate (and the PE cabin is also still wide open). I've flown Virgin's PE product many times and I like the relatively plush surroundings and premium service, but it's hardly a sleeper.

Thoughts re: relative merits of the two approaches?
