I firmly agree.
There are criticisms that can be leveled at BA F:
- You don't get a rarefied atmosphere, though the service is good - it's quite informal though, at least in my very limited experience;
- You don't get best of breed food and it can be quite unadventurous;
- You don't get spectacular ground services - once off the plane you get a decent but unremarkable lounge and are left to fend for yourself among the other passengers;
- The seat is spacious but it's not a suite, is generally quite restrained and lacks a wow factor.
All of that is true, but none of that makes it inferior to a good business class product. While F feels like what CW might be if trying to win customers rather than segment with F and keep costs under control, it's still very good.
Oh and I know it's two stops but you'd have one very long flight to rest and relax - QR via ORD might be worth a look.
As for maximizing TPs: BA would be 280 in business each way, or 420 in first; QR would be 260 in biz, so there's not much in it!
