Do unto others...I, too have noticed a lack of pleases and thank yous in first, and always make it a point to not only say thanks, but say it with a smile for every drink, meal course, and hot towel a FA brings me.

Politeness, IMHO, is just so easy, it costs nothing, and it is often even returned.
