Western was a great airline. I flew them regularly from YVR to LAX & SFO and about 6 or 7 times to HNL...On the "DC-10 Spaceships" As mentioned above, the HNL flights were always rather interesting with the flying-time sweepstakes and something else where they served some 'Hawaiian punch' of some sort, out of a miniature "volcano", complete with dry ice to create "smoke" Their F service was quite good, and I do remember a few Comp u/g to F a few times too (for us VIBs!) The Horizon Lounges were really worthwhile.
