Delta is not responsible or liable for cash, camera equipment, commercial effects, computer software and equipment, electronic equipment, fragile articles, jewelry, lifesaving medication, negotiable papers, irreplaceable business documents, works of art or other similar valuable items contained in checked or unchecked baggage. These types of items should be carried on — and kept in sight.
The bag will probably be considered international.
Relevant Montreal Convention coverage has no exclusion for electronics. The airline is liable for the checked items -- electronic or otherwise -- and the DOT has notified US airlines that flights covered by the Montreal Convention do not allow for the airline to legally deny responsibility for such items subject to a proper baggage irregularity report filed by the consumer for checked in luggage.
