One of our checked-in bags seem to have been misplaced in our flight from YVR to SLC. Unfortunately, I had a expensive laptop in the bag (>$2K).

If it turns out to be lost, how much can I expect to be reimbursed? We booked using my wife's SkyMiles CC. The CC limit seems to be only $500 for checked-in bags.

The DL website says that the reimbursement limit varies if it is domestic or international flight. The higher limit is for domestic. http://www.delta.com/content/www/en_...r-damaged.html

We went through immigration/passport control before boarding the flight at YVR. Would that make this a domestic flight?

Any other tips on maximizing refunds/compensation would be appreciated.
