If I join the program on the 1st of January 2014 and doesn't make any flights before December 2014, then all the points I've just made in December 2014 are ignored when we get to January 2015.
If this is your flight pattern, OP, you shouldn't get frequent flier status anyway. Because you're not a frequent flier nor a valuable customer. (That doesn't mean you aren't a valuable
person
