This is not well known. Last summer was one time. Things heat up in the Middle East all the time. One time, airlines canceled flights (and for how long?).

2. Security on El Al is the world's best - there is no argument here , by people who understand these things . This , of course especially important for those travelling to Israel . This is in fact , one of the reasons for many things , such as delays/service problems etc. Not to say , that this is a universal excuse for every problem - but it's a load , which other airlines don't have to carry .
Flights departing Israel have the same security considerations. And security is rarely the reason for LY's horrendous delays.
