I'm actually a good test case for the executive who said that he is worried about families leaving Parisian luxury hotels for private apartments. I have a young family, we travel to Paris a couple of times a year (think its the most beautiful city in the world), we stay at the George V, and I just purchased a small luxury apartment to let to family, friends, and friends of friends. Feel free to PM me about this experience.

Even though we are staying at our place in the Marais for a large part of our stay this winter I can't wait to book at the George V once their renovations are complete (they are scheduled to open a new more casual restaurant, move the spa, and open a larger pool). I apologize I have no details on the timing of these renovation.

Is Airbnb competition? Yes. Does that mean the law should come down on them and interfere with transactions between citizens wanting to do business together? No.

Having stayed at the George V with my family, I think its a stretch to say that Airbnb poses a threat to the Four Seasons because of the tremendous support and service that FS offers families.

However, there are major challenges to the hotels in Paris, primarily tremendous cost burdens with regards to employees, and soon, a large number of luxury rooms returning to the market after being off line for renovations.
