Interesting discussion, especially for this LUXURY hotel thread.

We just returned from France with two stays at Le Bristol of three and then six nights. It was heaven made more perfect by the most generous upgrades imaginable. Nevertheless, yes, tres expensive. And, you know what? Worth every penny and more. I am happy to pay for true, kind and caring luxury. What I resent is when I pay luxe rates, then receive less than concomitant treatment.

Yes, were we to travel often to Paris I might seek less pricey digs but as we visit only once a year or so we wouldn't settle for anything less than Le Bristol.

Why I would not consider airb&b:
-- security
-- lack of room service
-- lack of all services for that matter
-- no quality control
-- no concierge
-- no spa
-- no onsite restaurants, bars
-- little or no recourse if anything goes wrong
