That can't be right. SJC cannot land a 747. The runway is only like 8,000 feet long. AA pushed the city for years to extend it but there is a lot of local opposition due to noise; the airport is in the middle of the city and the landing pattern goes through most of the southern residential parts.

The UA Express FLIGHT (used to be flown by WestAir) between SFO and SJC was always interesting. 15 minutes gate-to-gate. Turning around over Highway 280 to face northwest to land was a little harrowing in that little 18-seater. But you didn't save any time given the connection wait.
