Do you have any status with any airline?

I've been on a mixed itinerary JAL from Hawaii to Japan, then CX from NRT to HKG. Completely separate itineraries. JAL plane went tech and I was delayed a full day in Hawaii (....what a bummer. CX ticket was Y class, can't remember exact sub fare class but probably on the cheaper side. Yet...CX rebooked me the next day without any problem at all. It was a pleasure dealing with them actually.

I was CX DM at the time.
