The InterCity or InterRegio.
so:
InterCity/ EuroCity are Long Distance Trains. The Operate normaly with newer cars who must have an european Standard.

InterRegio are Trains who stop often and run in the most case in a region or district.
The not all Regio Trains in all Country offer a 1Class.

The trains are (from fast to slow)
TVG, ICE, RJ,... -> IC, EC, ICN,... -> R, REX, RER, IR,... -> S, Sbahn, Subway,...
Reservations require?
TGV (in FR) Yes!
IC and IR trains?
The Cars everythink.
