If alcohol is factored into the equation it could turn out to be a lot more than you think. Particularly if you are partial to knocking back Krug or Dom on some of the "better" long haul carriers .

But if it was food only, my figures for long haul first class over the last 12 months would be:

AA - $20
BA - $40
CX - $40
JL - $25
QF - $55
SQ - $30
TG - $25

I don't even want to think about how much the bill would go up if I include the champagne consumed - that could be too sobering a thought (pardon the pun).

As for domestic (US) first class I'd probably be asking for a refund. Well, I could be persuaded to part with dollars for one of AA's signature ice cream sundaes (say $4).
