I totally agree. I'm not in construction, but I would think the developers would know, what's going on and communicate that to the owner and the owner to Starwood/SPG.
I'm shocking they told the OP, they would need to fork over additional money. Hopefully the lurkers will work this out and they'll probably end up in a better location.
