The window seat is really not bad at the exit… As you say, nothing in front of you, you can lean up against the "wall" (although it is a window seat, the actual window is set back from you slightly), either way you are going to have solid seat sides because of the tray table, and oodles of leg room…
Foot traffic, trolly traffic and toilet queue would certainly put me off an aisle seat. I would feel too exposed sat in the aisle seat. I much prefer a window seat.
