A weekend in Bucharest -BA Business (Club Europe)

Introduction

Earlier in the year, I was having a look at places I could take a weekend trip away to. I had an IHG Ambassador voucher to use which gives me a free weekend night away if I book another night. I looked at just a short trip to London to see some friends but the prices at the Intercontinental in London were astronomical. So I did a bit of digging into places which had an Intercontinental hotel (needs to be if I want to use the voucher) and to which I had not been before.

Bucharest jumped out at me. A few clicks later and I was booked in Club Europe from London to Bucharest with a connecting flight from / to Aberdeen. I thought that Club Europe would be worth it on this flight given that it's a Band 4 and scheduled for over 3 hours (although it's probably likely to be less than that). We will see.

I am currently sitting in the FLounge in Heathrow sipping on Tattinger and thought I would make a start on this given that I have nothing else to do. Actually, I met a fellow Instagrammer after I posted a pic of my glass of fizz against the backdrop of the champagne bar. He was a great guy and is actually a pilot for BA. Was great to meet him.

So, flight from Aberdeen was at 6.50am this morning. That meant a 5.15am wake up call. Which would all have been fine but I set my alarm for 6.15am last night. Doh! Thankfully, I woke at 5.34am, sh!t myself and got ready in a flash.

Nice sunrise.

I got to the airport around 6.10am and thank God for fast track security! There was a Europost flight (who has ever heard of them!?) off to some sunny Spanish country no doubt and all of those folk were waiting in the normal security line.

Into the BA lounge, greeted with a new (smilier) face on the front desk. Time for two double espressos, a glass of water and we were boarding. Lounge was dead this morning!

Boarding the big A321 to take us down to Heathrow.

Decent enough leg room at the front.

Greeted with the best captain ever - see this thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/briti...l#post25234510

Early morning birds.

After a short taxi, we took off and flew above the gorgeous Scottish countryside as we ascended into the clouds.

Love the clouds sitting in the valley in this one.

Breakfast was the usual affair on this Scotland-England route - full cooked or continental. I went for the continental which was perfectly fine and knowing that I would probably eat in the FLounge in Heathrow.

Rest of the time was spent starting a book, and dozing on and off. We came in over central London (why I always choose 1F on the way down south) and landed into Heathrow about 10 minutes early.

Parking at Gate A2 meant a very short walk to connections and, before long, I was in the Flounge with a glass of fizz.

No gate showing yet but I see the plane has just landed from Athens (and on time!) so shouldn't be any delay (fingers crossed) in leaving to go to Bucharest.

Off to get another glass of fizz (medicinal purposes I hope you understand).

Back later!
