I rented a car from Hertz at the Seattle airport location. I specifically asked if there would be any additional charges, the answer was negative. Several weeks after my return I received a credit card statement with $31 in charges by a company called PlatePass. I disputed the charge with AMEX and they informed me that PlatePass is a third party company through Hertz and told me my claim was denied. I contacted Hertz and they refered me to PlatePass. I avoided all toll roads and never even knew there was a device installed in my rental car, much less that I would be charged more than $4/day in administrative fees. Hertz did not give any information about this. I am a gold Hertz member.

How can Hertz use my credit card for third party charges? This is a scam and ripoff and I can't imagine that this is legal. I am still trying to fight this with Hertz. If they don't reimburse me, I will never use them again. Be warned!
