On older sets, there was sometimes a control in the back labelled "Vol Limit" or similar. I used to carry a non-metallic screwdriver to adjust this. (Please don't do this without having some idea about what you are doing and them blame me when you short the HV to the circuit board ground and blow the fuse.)

On newer sets, the limit is electronically set, and you need access to the set-up screen to adjust it, just like the color and tint controls. If anyone knows the codes for any commonly-used hotel sets, please e-mail them to me.

Yes, I'm already aware that, under the PAL system in use in Europe, these controls are not needed.
