Playing to such people's ego does generally have different results than not playing up to the ego of such people.
I'm one of those perhaps rare GE members who probably don't get cowered by the notion of the government pulling my GE membership -- not that I would ever give my government a valid excuse to pull it. I just am not willing to be a supplicant, serf or slave to any lord or lord's favorites, no less so when the bossy types are just behaving poorly. Kiss up just to maintain GE benefits? No thanks.
