Swiss InterCity vs InterRegio - What is the difference?

In September my Family (2A & 2C (13 & 15)) want to travel from Paris to Brig by train.

There are two options shown on bahn.de - 1 TGV to Basel then Intercity to Brig. 2 TGV to Geneva then InterRegio to Brig.

We plan to buy 1st Class tickets, but were wondering which train is better. The InterCity or InterRegio.

The IR has more stops between Geneva and Brig, but looks like it follows the lake and has more scenery. Trip time - 2:30. The IC has less stops but has a long part of the journey in a tunnel. Trip time - 2:10.

Travel time for both from point to point is about the same - ~6 hours. We don't have any plans in Brig apart from rest and get ready for the scenic train the next day.

So what is the difference between IC and IR trains? Seat? Service? Reservations require?

If comfort for both is about the same then scenery wise, which would be better?

Thank you,
