I don't believe there are any elevators on site. The couple having to ask for help with bags had back issues.
Restaurants: We were there for only 2 nights so hit one, drink and small plate, and onto the next.
Fig: We were really impressed by our vegetable salad (pic at end of post). The waitress was amazing there. The manhattan was great as well.
Cru: We had the fried green tomatoes with pork belly and their mac n cheese. Both were great as was the service.
S.N.O.B: We shared a salad and their shrimp and grits. Both very good. The bartender was great as well.
Husk Bar: Wife was sick so while I went out to get food I had to stop there

I heard from multiple people during our short trip that the service could be .....y as in "Why are you even here?" type attitude. It lived up to their reputation. I had a drink, the priciest old fashioned I've ever had lol. I chatted up the couple next to me who ate there and said while the food was good they wouldn't come back. They said they received attitude from the staff. Another couple I spoke with said the bartender was yelling at staff right in front of them at the bar.
Peninsula grill: Delicious old fashioned. I was hoping the bartender would whip me up something on his own when I asked for bourbon and sweet. I was looking for an off the menu type drink. He was very friendly. Chatted me up the whole time which was nice.
As for D.C. - We had to cancel our trip. We actually ended up moving from NY to TX. Kind of "what the hell, let's do it" type move. Charleston was part of our 10 day drive. Included in that were Myrtle Beach (my parents retired and moved there), Savannah, Mobile, AL, and New Orleans.
Salad at FIG

Lack of elevator can be quite tough for some folk I would think... the food onsite looks excellent as well..
The Salad at FIG looks amazing.. my wife always get the ricotta Gnocchi with lamb ragu there-- definitely a pleaser.. I do love how they have a manhattan menu with all sorts of selections; though it can be overwhelming at times... how am I supposed to know which bitters works best....
Cru and SNOB are perennial favorites.. I used to know one of the waiters at SNOB so I've always had great experiences....
One thing for HUSK is that it's always a lunch destination and always the burger.. that's it.. love there burger.. I'm sorry that you got the hipster/too cool to care attitude service there... I do think that they have that.. they've got an amazing bourbon selection, a lot of stuff that they keep special...
Too bad about DC..I wish I had known you were going to CHS- the Gin Joint has probably one of the best bourbon lists I've seen down there.. and they are the same folks behind Bittermilk mixers.. great bunch of guys...
Your parents probably live about 40 minutes from where I grew up... not a terribly exciting part of the world...
