Kenya trip on a budget...is it possible and safe?
I apologize if this type of discussion has already occurred. If so, please direct me to the thread, for I am new to the board.
My boyfriend and I are going on an 6 day trip to Kenya in FEB 2016, thanks to a $500 roundtrip flight deal we found. We had no idea prior to purchasing the tickets that Kenya isn't exactly the cheapest place to go. Add on the recent turmoil, and we have now recognized that we will not be able to do our on-the-whim cheap travel like we are used to, after picking up airline steals.
Our ultimate goal is to do at least 1 safari, and see some other sites (but avoid the east coast beaches), and keep it under $3k max a person. Everything we have priced out with travel groups is putting us close to $5k, and we just feel like there is no way that's how pricey Kenya is to do.
I would sincerely appreciate all recommendations and travel itinerary suggestions you may be willing to provide. We are willing to sacrifice the luxurious safaris we have seen out there, but don't want to lose a beautiful and true Kenyan experience.
Thank you SO much in advance everyone. I'm so happy I have found this board where I could reach out to.
