No, you can't expect the same level of service as an Aman (the rates reflect that) but I really enjoyed my stay there. The room was $700 but came with a private pool, now all my wife wants is private pool when we travel LOL.
The diving / snorkeling was okay, so don't make a trip just to enjoy the diving .
The grounds are all nice and well manicured. The food was good, though this isn't a michelin restaurant. Also, don't expect to be catered too. There are no GEM or Butler really so you need to schedule activites on your own.
If you want something more affordable then Aman, this is the place. If you can deal with not being catered too, this is a good choice. If you wnt ultimate luxury and be catered too at every turn, this isn't the place.
The rates for the Pangulasian are probably $450+ a night and then you have the 22% in taxes. I'm starting to see that as far as accommodation your dollar doesn't go as far as it would in Bali. I'm looking for something one or two steps down from the El Nido resorts. It seems the snorkeling/diving can be a bit hit or miss in that area, but the island hopping is what people rave about. It would be nice to find a hotel/resort that is on a nice beach just outside of town. It is actually really difficult to tell what the quality is like from the tripadvisor reviews for each hotel.
