Are there any recent trip reports for El Nido? Or, recommendations on where to stay besides El Nido brand resorts and Amanpulo? Looking at going in December for 10 days and am not wanting to pay more than ~$250 a night. I'm not sure if one should just stay in El Nido and then take day trips to the nice beaches or stay just outside of town. The reviews on all hotels in the area are a mixed bag below the high end resorts.
