I get the point of your posts, but I don't see how the famous quote fits your argument. His idea was that as a majority group's sentiments overwhelm those of a small minority group, then the rest of us should be concerned, lest some day we are singled out as well.
To me, when an international Twitter mob overwhelms a tiny number of oddly motivated and high maintenance big game hunters in a week's time, that fits the quote pretty well.
