Sharks are being decimated because of all the money flowing into Asia from countries like the USA (a country that like cheap products). I'd think someone who uses diver in their pen name would support that position. Perhaps not.
Several members of FT have actively gone after travel industries like Delta, Marriott and Disney, and others for their policies. And we have been successful in getting them to change. There will always be nay sayers like yourselves.
Sorry, apples and oranges. Shark populations are plunging.
As far as lions, well. Multiple countries in Africa offer sponsored safari hunts which provide substantial financial benefits to the country and their impoverished human population.
Said human populations matter. I made a donation to Doctors without Borders last year in the midst of the Ebola outbreak (which by the way is not vanquished). I was impressed by their response and actions which I am sure saved many, many lives.
Back on topic, IMO there are two problems with this hunt. The first is the probability that the animal was lured illegally. And I expect it will turn out this is a common practice that the government of Zimbabwe was well aware of. Which will turn this case into a major case of faux outrage on the part of the GoZ. The second is that a wounded animal was in pain for almost two days before it was finally killed. I'm generally in favor of hunting (though I do not hunt), but it must be IAW the laws/regs and should be done humanely. Hunting a lion with a bow and arrow just seems likely not to result in a clean or quick kill. And if it's some super high powered bow and arrow system, that's hardly any more sporting than a rifle.

I am interested in that. Can you point me to an article or thread?

I don't really think I'm a nay sayer, but I'm not into the name calling thing.
At the end of the day, it's a good business decision for DL. Gets them some good press, and won't cost them any noticeable business.
Cheers,
