Ya, I have done this, many, MANY times when transiting AMS & CDG, but I've alwayz read here that DL USA bound connecting luggage has the 6 hour max mentioned above.

Funny, I completely forgot about my most recent trip to TXL earlier this year . . . .

Flying ORD/SLC/CDG/TXL with about 9ish hours in Paris for some shopping . . . .

I checked a bag at ORD all the way thru to TXL. It didn't show up at baggage claim. They delivered it to my apt 2.5 days later . . . but . . . .

The bag I checked at CDG with all of my shopping from a half day in Paris - DID turn up!
