I also feel e-tickets are the way to go! I've done alot of travelling within the US on UA e-tickets & have not had a problem. Once, I was even put on an AA flight when my UA flight was cancelled, so there was no problem between carriers there.

I would agree, however, that I would get a paper ticket for international travel though from what I've read on the board.
