Hi all,
I have normal (Jade?) status and was wanting to book a Trip to Melbourne on the 777-300 before the PE fares came in.
Was hoping to pay for The Works and then choose preferred seating in the PE section. However, these are not available to me (the ones that are say they are occupied).

It just means that all the allocation available for a preferred seating purchase have all been snapped up. Unless those people decide to pick different seats (highly unlikely), you're out of luck.
The only way to "guarantee" a PE seat would be paying for
Works Deluxe (which isn't for sale on 777 run services anymore)
Or choose other dates which still have those PE seats as available to purchase.
Unfortunately NZ won't be of help to you. The rest of the PE cabin will most likely be prioritized for Elite/Gold/Koru members.
