i am thinking if i do one DONE4 per year, then there will be little positioning cost. but of course, the price from JNB will change over time.

for AONE3 from Japan. how many F segments do u really get? you need at least 5 segments in north america amd there is only 1 real F segment...
You don't need five sectors in North America, but you can have up to six if you want.

I would guess:
  • Asia to North America,
  • (intra-USA on SFO/LAX-JFK),
  • North America to Europe,
  • Two between either Europe and Middle East and/or Europe and Russia-west*,
  • Russia-west/ME/Europe to Asia

So about 5 longhaul/midhaul F flights, 6 if you include the transcon F service (meh).

Then you can get some regional Fs inside Japan and on KA/CX.

Plus regional F around Middle East and domestic F in USA. These are two-class F so you can obtain them on a DONE ticket as well.

* BA operates LHR-DME with a four class 747 now only a few times per week. The flight is only about four hours but it is a full "F" service. However, the impact of economic sanctions is making this route particularly variable and many of the rotations have been downgraded to A321s.
