Same same! All for the sake of saving less than $30 than if I booked QR onward to DOH!

To transfer in Dubai to or from a flydubai flight, you'll need to make two separate bookings: one on flydubai and one on another airline.

Please note:

The flight you book to Dubai needs to arrive at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure of the second flight and you need to be at the boarding gate at least 45 minutes before take-off.

My reading of that is that dnata staff in DXB will retrieve your bag and send it over to flydubai. I never had the chance to try this as I passed trhough immigration and expected an easy walk to the flydubai terminal! Otherwise, transferring between terminals is absolutely horrible if you have to collect your bags.

Oh, and flydubai will not honour BA's baggage allowance. You will have to pay excess.
