I have an interesting conundrum to solve for an upcoming trip with my family next week.
I snagged the ~$1100 business class deal from JFK-Orly on OpenSkies back in April. To complete the full trip from AUS-BCN, I have positioning flights on both ends of the BA ticket. As a result I have 3separate tickets for the trip:
- AUS-JFK on B6
- JFK-ORY on BA
- ORY-BCN on VY (Vueling, an Iberia subsidiary)
I know, and am prepared for the worst case, where I will have to claim bags at the end of each segment, but I am hoping interlining will come to my rescue. I know B6 has an interline agreement with BA but not with VY. BA does have an interline agreement with VY.
The best strategy I've come up with is to collect my bags in JFK and ask BA at checkin at JFK to tag the bags through to BCN.
The other option is to ask B6 to tag the bags through to ORY, and then check them in to VY. Since I have a longer connection in JFK, I'm favoring the first option.
Does anyone see a scenario where B6 would tag the bags through to BCN? That's the ideal of course, but I don't see how that's possible.
Thoughts?
