The time between arriving on QF7 and AA1439 is 85 minutes. I'm a spry NZ passport holder and first time entering the USA. Is this enough time to make it through?
You might make it, but as you'll have to process USCBP (immigration, retrieve baggage, customs, hand in baggage, go landside, process security airside with your next boarding pass, proceed to your next terminal (probably A or C) it will undoubtedly be tight (if everything from on time arrival to other than peak arrival time at USCBP lines up properly).

Personally, I'd prefer two hours (preferential time listed in the wiki).
