Stumbled across this prmo where you get a bonus of 2.5k points just by using the digital key at selected hotels.
Apparently, you can get an extra standard keycard from the reception (if you need) and still get the 2.5k points, so no harm trying it out just for the bonus .points.
Not as good as the 5k bonus promo, but still better than nothing!

Can hhonors representative give more info regarding this promo? Thanks.
Also, how about upgrades? Can we still go to reception and request for an upgrade after using the digital key?
