Are exDUB precleared flights deemed domestic arrivals for the purposes of MCT? BA1 isn't and there is no connection advantage for MCT, although for practical purposes you are less likely to have any issues since you can be out of T7 in 5 mins with hand luggage only.

Have you considered the Rail/Sail fares offered by Irish Ferries & Stena? I don't know where in Cheshire you are but you can start in Chester for example and have a relaxing trip with no baggage restrictions for just over £30 including your rail journey.
