I would bet the original intent of this policy is to benefit the new member with AT LEAST 1,000 points upon the first stay. Surely you can escalate the matter of how this policy unintentionally short changed you up the ladder to someone with the power to make it right. Don't give up.
I'd imagine they will get the same response as they have already had. Even the literature in the hotel says 1,000 points for the first stay. They haven't tried to hide it either it's in the regular text on the leaflet not the small print.
They might get a small gesture of goodwill but I can't see them going for 90k when it's crystal clear on the marketing in the hotels.
