Thanks everyone for your advice. To clarify, I'll be flying out of JFK on OZ. I just checked, and it's not actually a morning flight as it departs 1:25pm. I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

If not, I'll probably follow this advice and fly direct to LGA and spend the night at a JFK airport hotel.

If you were headed to NYC for routine travel, I would not hesitate to book what you are looking at. But, under the circumstances, why not grab one of the three daily non-stops SDF-LGA and either spend the night in NYC or if on the later flight, head to JFK and spend the night at an airport hotel?
