Flying from the regions, exactly that as well for me. I can either get up at stupid oclock and get an early gla flight to connect to a us bound flight mid/late morning, or chill a bit and overnight at lhr or dub. Aer lingus, ryanair, ba with two flights if i must to dub....then over the pond i go in an a330 with 1 2 1 seating. Or back to lhr and overnight there anyway. Couple of pints, curry etc. works for me. I can see it wouldnt work too well with a family, but no real extra hardship to take a flight to dub over a flight to lhr and overnight either way. You'll still be getting your bags back that night for the kids stuff. If us air goes to all 75ls from dub, then yeah.... Aer lingus advertise the gla/edi-dub-us route a fair bit. I have to say it works, even if they didnt get my business tatl (yet).
