2. Airport hotel overnight on Friday means you can get up later than if you were at home (we normally have to set the alarms for 4.30 to get the taxi to EDI to catch the first connection to LGW or LHR or wherever we are going from)
3. Pre-clearance at DUB means no standing for hours in an immigration hall with tired kids who refused to sleep during a daytime flight. Arrive at JFK as domestic? YES PLEASE.
4. The angle lie-flat AA 757 was very comfy for a daytime flight, had personal IFE and good food. The minions love ice-cream sundaes.
5. Splitting a 10hr flight to LA into 6hrs to JFK and then 5hrs transcon (where you can sleep nicely in J) allowed a good couple of hours rest and leg-stretching for all of us.
The boss and I were very surprised at how well it went.

Good to hear, you have my admiration.
When I told my family that I'm going on a 15 flight trip to HNL they just didn't get it!
