When my bags didn't show in DXB I was given a terrible overnight kit - toothbrush, toothpaste, plastic razor plus foam, and an XL shapeless white t-shirt. That was it.

In ORD when faced with the same difficulty I was given a $200 pre-paid Visa card. You get one free cash withdrawal so the recommendation is to withdraw the $200 in one go. As it happened, despite landing on Saturday the card wouldn't work until the Monday.
