I am well on my way to getting enough points for companion pass. It should be completed by the time my next statement comes around at the end of August. Right now I have a little over 60,000 miles from my SW Business visa and the min spend on my SW Personal card should it and get the bonus in August.

My wife and I are looking to book a flight to Orlando in December. I see they have a sale going on (Not sure if the flight I saw is part of the sale or not) Its only about 14,000 miles round trip per person.

Anyway, should I book the flight now and then when I get the companion pass add her to my reservation then?

Should I book the flight for 2 now and then remove her when the companion pass comes and then add her to my itinerary later?

If I book 1 or 2 flights now with my current points, do they get deducted from my total earned towards the companion pass that I would have to make up say 14,000 miles again before the end of the year or once you earn them it's already figured in and they can be spent and still get the pass even though I would be short of the 110,000 miles (in my account)

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you for any help you can provide.
Should you book the flight now? Yes

Should you then add her after you get the CP? Yes

Should you book for two now and then cancel and add her as a companion when you get the CP? That is a good way to guarantee there will still be a seat for her on the flight but I really don't think you have to worry about flights selling out for December in August. I wouldn't bother if I was you.

Do the points redeemed get deducted from CP qualifying points? No, that would be ridiculous. CP qualifying points are only based on points earned, not redeemed. It does not matter how many points you actually have in your account.

Enjoy your CP!
