A few years ago and after very clear instructions our daughter forgot to collect her luggage in Miami en route to Tampa from the UK. Just went straight past the baggage belts after immigration straight through customs and straight to her connection. AA was very good about it and put it on the next flight to Tampa where we collected it.

Some time later we did discuss why she thought it was ok to walk on when everyone else was collecting their cases To be fair it was her first time on her own.
