Most airlines including ours have what's called ZED fares (Zonal Employee Discount). The further the flight the more expensive it is. You pay that plus airport taxes... With our airline only a handful of carriers allow us to book business class at a higher fare. There are sometimes, however, when you are upgraded. I flew to Beijing from Chicago on American and the gate agent put me in business. My fare? $122.
