I got similar message just a week ago, however I was trying to scan my GE card (as a LPR, can't use my non-US passport and had forgotten which card to use). Even tried LPR subsequently and got the same message and finally I tried entering information manually and the kiosk finally processed me fine.

If next time you get these messages, maybe you could try manual lookup.
