Whatever makes you sleep good at night. I just believe in integrity. If not on FedEx business or an employee of FedEx not entitled to use the code. But hey, if the FedEx policy actually has in writing that relatives, no matter how far removed, can use the codes, then more power to you. Enough said.
If not entitled, don't use the code.
