Having KVS is a HUGE help! The agents have even confirmed that my KVS data matched the availability they were seeing, but, of course, in the OP's situation here, KVS won't do any good with award availability.
I've never been able to use it except when on FCM fares. My coach fares are usually Q or lower - any higher and I'm probably FCMing. Having access to availability data does help. For this and many other reasons, I've found myself justifying a Sabre subscription recently.
