A visit is required for Nexus members - not for the U.S. Side, but for the Canadian side since Updates on GOES do not transfer over to the Canadians.
That used to be the case but has changed. The CBSA website now says the following:

Please note that NEXUS members are not required to report to an Enrolment Centre to update or change their passport information with the CBSA.
